Installing ALSA Drivers 1.0.18

Hi. I have a laptop (dell inspiron 1720) and I have installed on it Debian Lenny. The sound is working fine, but the microfone and the sound in some applications like AMSN are not. After many posts in many different places it seems like it's better to just update my alsa and see if that solves the problem.
